ESG: Impact and Implications for International Companies
As banks, governments and regulators like the Singapore Exchange (SGX) implement rigorous ESG screening, more companies have reacted by assessing their carbon footprints, sustainable projects, social behaviour and governance standards.
We will discuss the impact and implications of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) issues, led by executives from leading international companies proactive in identifying and managing these issues – IKEA and Dow Chemical. Lars Petersson spent over 30 years at IKEA, serving as president of the company’s US, Japan and Italy operations. He also spearheaded multiple diversity and inclusion initiatives, bolstering the company’s socially conscious brand – and navigated the company through politically sensitive issues including LGBT rights and immigration. Jon Penrice is President, Asia Pacific for Dow Chemical, which is among industry leaders in ESG – exemplified by its 2025 Sustainability Goals.
