Events have a way of upsetting the best laid plans but just like sailors setting out to sea, companies can prepare for the unexpected. In part, it’s about testing the boundaries of possibility in the annual plan and drawing up contingency scenarios. However, it’s equally about developing a team capacity for quick assessment of breaking events leading to a rapid corporate response.
The IMÅ Asia CEO Forum will have a group-work session on the evening of 16 November to determine the critical issues that should be on companies’ 2019 watchlist. Joining the discussion will be Simon Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, the country’s oldest think tank and founding member of the ASEAN network of think tanks. A public intellectual as well as an advisor to major corporations and policy makers, Simon will first reveal and discuss the major risks and opportunities in the region over the next 12 months.
Over a good meal and through a highly interactive and stimulating exchange of ideas between all participants, we will work together to come up with the key actors, flags, impact and how to mitigate those risks. This is essential preparation for what we expect will be a turbulent year ahead.
