We’ve entered the age of uncertainty, when business leaders must entertain a variety of very different scenarios that might play out in the coming year. Some you’ll have considered, others might blindside you, but we’ll help you prepare for the unexpected. In part, it’s about testing the boundaries of possibility in the annual plan and drawing up contingency scenarios. However, it’s equally about developing a team capacity for quick assessment of events for a rapid corporate response.

We’ll be holding a group-work session on the evening of 30 January to determine the critical issues that should be on your watch list for 2020. James Crabtree, Associate Professor in Practice at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, senior fellow at the Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG) and former Mumbai Bureau Chief for the Financial Times, will bring to our attention 4-5 of the major risks and opportunities in the region over the next 12 months. Then, over a good meal and through an interactive exchange of ideas between all participants, we will work together to come up with the key actors, flags, impact and how to mitigate those risks. This is essential preparation for a turbulent year ahead. (Please find the 2017 discussion paper in Shanghai on the same topic here).
