Capturing Growth Amidst Uncertainty
2023 begins in a way that is unlike any other year in China due to the long-awaited, yet awkwardly timed dismantling of the zero-covid policy. The policy shift is expected to lead to declining life expectancy, and more positively, improving business confidence. It will also be a year of reconnection between China and the rest of the world.
However, structural challenges remain: domestically, China has become a more policy-driven market, and externally, geopolitical tensions have risen to their highest level since the 1990s.
Amidst such a complicated backdrop, join us for a conversation on how MNCs can best capture China’s growth opportunity on Thursday, February 16th, from 8:00 – 9:30 am at the Fairmont Peace Hotel. The conversation kicks off with Sean Stein, Chairman of AmCham Shanghai and senior advisor at Covington and Burling. Expect a debate on how MNCs can navigate and thrive through uncertainty in 2023.
Sean is a former US Consul General in Shanghai and Shenyang with over 20 years of diplomatic experience. He’s served in leadership positions in Washington, China, and around the region, and has assisted dozens of firms in developing strategies, managing risk, and identifying opportunities amid the changing US-China relationship.
